We're Halfway There..

By Alaynah Fiedler | U.S. Operations Manager

Parent meeting day
Parent meeting day

It has been a busy time for us at our Resource Center in Chiang Rai. The students are on school break right now, which means the Resource Center has been filled with students playing and learning. We also just had our first parent meeting of the year. Twice a year we gather as an organization and a community to share stories, engage the community with trainings, and award scholarships to our students.

We are thrilled to announce we are halfway to our goal of $16,000 for the computer lab in our new building! We recently received an $8,000 check donation as well as three gently used computers from The HUG Project, an organization in Chiang Mai.

Your gifts are enabling our students access to resources that are vital in their success. An Internet-connected computer lab enables our students to complete homework assignments, learn valuable software, research, & typing skills, as well as pursue niche interests in design, web development, & more.

We are eager to host our first computer workshop in the new computer lab, which will allow 10 students or community members access to a computer at one time. This is huge for us as we currently have 3 computers for over 120 students and a whole village. Not only will our scholarship students have access to the computer lab, the community members will have access as well.

We will be purchasing the first round of computers soon! We’re honored and encouraged by your belief and investment in SOLD’s work to prevent child exploitation.

Thank you!

With hope,

Alaynah Fiedler
