We continue to help young pregnant girls, young mothers and their babies, ease their new life responsibilities, and have a brighter look to their future
At this moment, five young pregnant and very poor mothers, are receiving pregnancy medical care, nutritional support, provision of medicines and vitamins, milk, and clothes for the baby. They also received psychosocial guidance to protect and empower their lives and the life of their babies.
They came to Salud y Familia during the third and fourth month of pregnancy. We took in a 13-year-old girl who is still attending high school. We also welcomed three girls of 15, 16 and 17 years old, the three of them dropped school. They live in the rural areas and poor neighborhoods of Baruta and El Hatillo.
Our care for the young mothers to be comprises, instruction in pregnancy and childbirth care, baby care, self- esteem, and family orientation. When the baby is due for delivery, they are referred to hospital centers with a complete report that facilitates care at the time of birth.
These young mothers are invited to participate in learning and entrepreneurial courses in pastry, manicure, and hairdressing so that they can meet their many needs.
The health of the mother and the baby are thus protected they are also encouraged to follow a path of personal and family improvement.
