Because every child deserves to be happy

By Rebecca Dias | Project Leader

Because every child deserves to be happy. – Jawaharlal Nehru

Nationwide, ‘Children’s Day’ is celebrated to increase awareness of the rights, care and education of the children. It is celebrated on 14th November as a tribute to the country's first Prime Minister Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, because of his endless love & affection for children.

Muktashala had celebrated this day with great zeal and fervor with the theme of ‘Child Rights’. Various activities and programmes were conducted for the children in coordination with the staff, teachers and caretakers of the institution. The parents were also invited to be a part of this celebration.

The formal program started with informative speeches on Child Rights followed by action song and dance. The children showed their skills and gave their best performances. Entertainment games like musical chairs, carrom competitions, etc were held. Prizes were given to the winners of the games, followed by the distribution of sweets to all the children.

Later during the day, the children also rallied through the streets in the nearby villages to spread awareness on the importance of Rights of a Child. The children prepared motivating slogans on right to survival, right to development, right to protection and right to participation.

All the children actively participated in the events, activities and rally making the day a memorable one. The parents were very proud and happy to see their children not only participating in the celebrations but also as young advocates spreading the message on the importance of Child Rights. The children and the parents were thankful to Muktashala and its well-wishers for such opportunities provided.
