The Community Sports Development for 350 Youth in Borno project has officially commenced community engagement and preliminary planning activities despite limited funding received so far. Out of the total fundraising target of $10,000, the project has secured $25 from 2 generous donors, leaving a balance of $9,975 still required to fully implement activities.
Current funds have been directed toward initial stakeholder coordination and preparation efforts while broader implementation remains dependent on additional financial support. Procurement of sports kits, rehabilitation of the 3 community fields, and training of the 15 local coaches are scheduled to begin once funding milestones are achieved.
Community interest remains strong, with local leaders and families expressing support for the initiative’s goal of creating safe recreational spaces and reducing youth vulnerability to violence and social exclusion. Continued fundraising efforts are now the immediate priority to ensure the full delivery of the 6-month Sports for Peace league and reach all 350 targeted youth beneficiaries.
The project team remains committed to transparency, accountability, and maximizing every contribution received as momentum continues to build toward full implementation.
