Orphans in Uganda are often left with little resources and support, especially in regards to reaching their educational dreams. To best address this, the organization is a received donation for his project, Green Hill Education Centre in Mityana, Uganda. With support from the recurring donors renovated a school, purchase scholastic materials and train parents in income-generating activities for the purpose of project sustainability.
KEA Green Hill Educational Centre (KEA GHEC) was established in 2004 at the hill with the mango trees to carry in Kasejjere village. Before the establishment of the school, the nearest primary school was at a distance of seven kilometers, the school has reduced the distance the children walk to school, which makes education more accessible. On top of that, the school is open for all children; including those who are orphans and vulnerable families who cannot afford to pay school fees. The school reached 250 pupil but the number dropped to 150 as per now due to financial problems, it started with three primary classes (P1-P3) with a total number of 53 pupils among them 25 were orphans (11girls and 14boys), but expanded to full primary .
The community of Kasejjere under Kikandwa Environmental Association identified illiteracy and semi-illiteracy as the main big problem hindering development and creating chronic poverty in Kikandwa sub-county particularly in Bambula parish were children between 5 and 14 years were either illiterate or semi-illiterate due to dropping out of school at an early age, the majority used to begin schooling late and dropped out before completing primary seven due to chronic poverty in the area.
The goal to achieve the community strategic plan was to contribute to the attainment of Sustainable Development Goals. To pursue this goal the organization has a vision of, rural Communities in Uganda where people live with dignity and in harmony with each other, their Environment and God” Towards this vision the organization mission is “…To develop capacities and capabilities of young children targeting rural communities in partnership with all people of good will so as to be effective and efficient agents in the promotion of education in Kasejjere community.
KEAGHEC is strongly focused on a participatory results and has therefore adopted tools to strengthens impact of change beneficiaries not only in the determination of desired changes but also in the monitoring and evaluation of the change progress that was able to acquire knowledge and skill on the
We are constructing a permanent structure for the school but we cannot afford to complete the work without your effort, therefore we are requesting our donors to link and recommend us to Donor foundation and funding institution which can build us permanent structures for the school.
