IMPACTING SOCIETY AT LARGE

By Kaganga John | Director

KEACIRC is thrilled to proclaim that our former graduate Nakitto Betty and the head of ICT at the resource center Mr. Seruzi Alexander are concluding the water and sanitation hygiene project that was funded by The Pollination Project. Kasejjere community had only one water access point that is a spring well that was serving the whole community. This is no longer the case as the community hand dug well is now fully operational.

It has made an instant impact in society as it has saved women and children from the daunting task of traveling almost 1 km to and fro to fetch water downhill which was not very safe for domestic use. Several workshops and meetings have been held to sensitize people about water and environmental resources management issues, improved personal hygiene behaviour, domestic and environmental sanitation practices focusing on children and women through increased and improved access to quantity and quality water supply and sanitation infrastructures.

The management of the resource center takes pride in their initiative to avail safe water and improve sanitation practices in the village; “it’s great to see that they (Nakitto and Alex) are shifting from their professional fields of study to focus on community development issues. We thank you for the gift of the new well and request that you identify more pressing issues in the community to address.” remarked one of the workshop participants.

CHALLENGES

Although the management of the resource center successfully managed to construct new premises for KEA CIRC, we are still faced with a challenge of installing an electricity connection at the premises. This has halted almost the services we used to provide at the center. We are tirelessly working had to get are a connection to electricity but are still financially challenged. We continuously call on you our beloved donors to help the resource center get access to electricity.

In conclusion, we also like to thank the management of Global giving that is continuously giving us a platform to reach out to the community through various projects that we have implemented on ground.
