Muto's Summer Activites

By Marie Davis | CEO

On July1st Muto attended the Fearon Hall Summer Fayre, which was well attended. The stall was run by a Muto volunteer.

Muto volunteers have spent several days clearing the storage unit in preparation for the new Trading Standards stock.  This has meant cutting up clothing that is too difficult to debrand was ready to be used for cushion stuffing and cutting fabric into strips ready for community weaving projects. Caroline from the OOTBOX project collected 10 bags of debranded clothing that she will use in her upcycling projects.  OOTBOX also has a social mission and this partnership will help Muto achieve more of its social aims.

On Thursday July 27th the bus was taken to The  Barefoot Festival ready for Council Inspections.

Trading began 12.00pm Friday28th.  We organised a volunteer schedule and had 4 volunteers ran shifts over the weekend. We ran informal upcycling activities during the event and engaged  13 families in various upcycling activities. Overall feedback about the project was extremely positive with 2 new people offering to volunteer with the project.

On Thursday 10th August the Muto bus went to The Green place in Sileby to run an upcycling workshop. 7 families engaged in the workshop and the bus generated a lot of interest from the local community with several people asking if the bus could be parked in Sileby on a regular basis. We raised £20 in donations.
