A computer lab and the on-going training will complement our on-going educational and business development activities at the Door of Hope community in Freetown. The community has over 1000 children, youths and adults that have LIMITED or NO exposure to computer training. Access to computers and training will enable them to become computer proficient. This vital skill will facilitate their success in today's technology-driven society - helping them to obtain jobs or improve their businesses.
This project will help to eradicate the problem of computer illiteracy for children and youths in a community where there are no modern and free computer training facilities.Through the computers and provided training, they will learn how to use a computer extensively, opening them up to new educational, employment and business opportunities. This training will help bridge the Digital Divide and the opportunity gap. The educational training will help release their potential and abilities.
Funds will be used to purchase computers and provide on-going training. This project will provide direct access to computers for use by the Door of Hope community. Access to the computers and training will transform their lives. Computer training and access to the Internet is a proven "game changer". This will supplement and further complete the targeted opportunities that Develop Africa is already providing. The children and youth in particular will benefit from the educational training.
This training will transform the lives of participants as it will broaden their options and help expose them to new educational, employment and business opportunities. The beneficiaries will become computer literate and proficient - and consequently viable and competitive in the market place. This will help them become independent, self-sufficient and develop their careers - contributing to national development.
