Every afternoon, just before the sun begins to set, Laura arrives at the foundation.
She is 8 years old. Small for her age. Quiet, but observant. She walks in holding her little brother’s hand, as if she has learned too early that she needs to be strong for both of them.
At home, things are not always certain. Some days there is food. Some days there isn’t. And on those days, hunger doesn’t just hurt the body—it makes it harder to think, to learn, to feel safe. But here, something changes.
Before any activity begins, before the workshops or the emotional support sessions, there is a moment that means everything: mealtime. A warm plate. A place at the table. Someone who looks at them and says, “You matter.”
Laura doesn’t rush anymore when she eats. At first, she used to. As if the food might disappear at any second. Now, little by little, she is learning something new: that she doesn’t have to fight for every bite. Her brother laughs more. She participates in activities. They both have more energy, more focus, more life.
Because a meal is never just a meal. It is dignity. It is stability. It is the foundation for healing.
At Fundación Paula Cristina, the community kitchen is often the first step in rebuilding a child’s world. It creates a safe space where children can begin to trust again, to learn, to heal—not while worrying about their next meal, but while feeling cared for.
But this space depends on people like you. You can help keep this table full!
Your donation provides daily meals to 100 children who need them most—meals that nourish not only their bodies, but their ability to grow, learn, and heal. Give today. Feed a child. Change a future!
