Looking for the Next Site

By Amanda Watkin | Project Leader

Cleaning the Telephone Kiosk
Cleaning the Telephone Kiosk

It's great to drive past the Public Access Defibrillator (almost daily) and see it standing out in the heart of the community, with its green lights flashing.

We know that if the worst should happen and someone suffered a cardiac arrest, that this device could be the difference between life and death...

This project doesn't stop with the Public Access Device (PAD) being installed, as each month one of our Rotary volunteers cleans the telephone kiosk and performs a check on the device reporting back to the WebNOS service which is a nationwide system connecting the emergency services to the defibrillator. By being on this network, when a ‘999’ call is made, the responder can direct the caller to the PAD speeding up the response time which is critical.

Right now we are ramping up activity to move on with identification of the next installation site with planning for further fundraising to support the purchase and installation taking place.

We are taking a multi-pronged approach on fundraising using our GlobalGiving platform and we’re holding a virtual balloon race for a bit of Festive Fun on Christmas Day!

Your continuing belief through active contributions means we will be able to push forward with the next device; your support is very much appreciated – THANK YOU!

Keep looking out for our reports and updates, it’s looking to be a busy few months ahead…
