The child is one of the most important assets of the nation. Many face barriers to accessing quality, inclusive education. Physical accessibility, lack of trained teachers, and stigma are common issues.
Every effort should be exerted to promote his welfare and enhance his opportunities for a useful and happy life.”(Article 1, P.D. 603) In all actions concerning children with disabilities, the best interests of the child shall be a primary consideration (Article 7, UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilies).
This is the main reason why the Las Pinas Persons with Disabilities Federation, Inc. through the Community Based Enrichment Program (CBEP) included distribution of inclusive learning materias for children with disabilities, The organization is aware that most story books or educational materials in the market are not accessible to some children wi disabilities. So together with Asmae, the federation meticulously chose learning materials to be distributed to CBEP Centers and Day Care centers with children with disabilities. Unique features of these learning materials aside from being big books with large prints, these books carry more pictures that children can easily identify with.
There are 15 books per set to be distributed to CBEP Centers and each set included the books on numbers, alphabet, vegetables and fruits, colors, parts of the body, and inclusive books like 1,KAYANG KAYA (I CAN DO THIS) ; 2.ANG UNA KONG ALPABETO (MY FIRST ALPHABET) ; 3. MASAYA PALA! DIEGO AT MARIE; BONG'S DAY; ANG MABAIT NA KALABAW; (MY GOOD CARABAO) NANG MAGKAKULAY ANG NAYON; (WHEN THE VILLAGE WAS COLORED) 4. SAMPUNG MGA DALIRI (10 LITTLE FINGERS); 5.
