Coffee Beans of Hope: Brewing Change for the Poor - Project Update

Honoring Women Teachers for Women's Day

Dear Supporters,

I am excited to share with you the progress of our café, WOW Café (A Cafe With A Cause), and how your continued support is helping us make a difference in Tanzania.

Since our last update, we have achieved several significant milestones. We now have a refrigerator and all the necessary equipment, allowing us to better serve our community. Our first private party, held on International Women's Day to honor local women teachers, was a tremendous success. It not only celebrated these incredible women but also helped us gain visibility within the community. The attendees couldn't stop raving about the quality of our food, especially our delicious KFC style fried chicken.

Since opening our doors in February, we have been able to offer affordable treats like Mandazi (Tanzanian donuts) to children after school. While this venture isn't profitable, it brings joy to children who don't have access to such luxuries, and that, to us, is invaluable. Looking ahead, our primary goal is to prepare for the upcoming safari/tourist season starting in June. To achieve this, we are focusing on increasing our visibility through additional signage, posters, and a stronger social media presence. We also plan to expand our seating capacity by adding more chairs and tables on the ground floor to attract more customers. Our balcony, though beautiful, isn't easily visible from the street.

One of our most recent achievements was hosting a photography workshop for children. It was heartwarming to see them explore their creativity. During the workshop, the children enjoyed lunch at our café, for many of them, it was their first restaurant experience.  In addition, we have plans to start a soup kitchen at the café once a month to support families in need, with the eventual goal of making it a weekly event.  We want to feed them from farm to table, supplied by our chicken farm and organic community garden.

We're also excited to share our Safe Water project with you through a video.

This initiative aims to provide clean water to schools and communities, enabling them to grow organic gardens like we have.   Our journey is just beginning, and we are committed to making WOW Café not just a profitable venture but also a sustainable one that supports our NGO's mission of helping impoverished families break out of the cycle of poverty.  None of this would be possible without your unwavering support. Please find attached our April newsletter and the video showcasing our Safe Water project for more detailed information.

Together, we are making a difference, one cup of coffee at a time. Thank you for spreading the word about all the good work we are doing here and for your generous donations.

With gratitude,

Children eating in a cafe for the first time!
