FIRST GOAL ACHIEVED

By Manuela Nieth | Head Fundraising The Dariu Foundation

The Dariu Foundation's first crowd funding campaign proofed to be a success! Our aim was to raise at least $5,000 total from a minimum of 40 different donors in order to graduate and secure a permanent fundraising spot on the GlobalGiving platform.

With your generous support, we raised nearly $25,000. This gives 3,000 children in the rural areas of Vietnam the chance to learn basic coding.

This is a huge chance for these children, aged between 6 and 15 years, given that in Vietnam, computer literacy is still an unaffordable luxury for most.

We teach them in our 50 mobile schools, 11 mobile container libraries and computer labs - with 35 laptops per class. After the course, the local schools can continue implementing the curricula and the provincial Education Department is committed to replicate the training programs at all local schools.

During the course of the program, our staff (independent from the teachers) will evaluate all students with pre and post- tests to see the progress of knowledge and will be measured by the online tools designed for the project. Teachers will be rated by students to assess their skills and performance by online tool and/or app. At the end of each year (the 11th month), we will organize a contest with at least 3000 students participating the event, the awards will be presented to the best students at the ceremony to promote the program and recognize the contribution of the project, and award best students.

Thank you again, for your support and you will hear back from us soon!

Best regards,

The Dariu Foundation
