Hilton(name changed), called me just now to inform that he bought a new two-wheeler. I am so happy to see him as the proud owner of a two-wheeler, who, 8 years ago was struggling to find a support to continue his education.
Hilton's father was a rowdy and when he fell ill nobody was ready to support his family. Hilton's mother started earning by sweeping a hospital and she had three daughters who were unmarried. It was difficult for her to feed the children and she could not spend for the boy who wanted to continue his studies. New Life was conducting supplementary education (coaching) classes for the children in their locality and Hilton approached us.
The teacher admitted him in the class and he was financially supported by the organisation to continue his studies. Hilton successfully completed his schooling due to the support from the supplementary education class teacher and of course his efforts. Then he continued to study with the scholarship given by New Life and came out with flying colours in his under graduate examination. Now he is working in a company as Accounts Clerk and is confident of redeeming all the debts borrowed by his family so far. We feel very happy to see his progress.
Hilton says that if he was not supported by New Life when he was in class IX, he would now be roaming in streets, and anxiously says "Who knows? I too would have turned to be a person in conflict with law".
So many such children are being coached in our Supplementary education class. In the month of November, the students from NIT, a famous engineering college in Trichy wanted to gift these children in the supplementary education class with their wishes. And we had a gala get together in the NIT campus and the children participated in many competitions and got many prizes. On November 20th, we had a function in our office, where the children were gifted with their wishes. It is great to see that most of the children wished for things that will help them in their studies.
We, thank you dear donors for supporting the children like Hilton to become good citizens and lead a decent living.
