Wipe her tears.

By Beatrice Vanaja F | Chief Administrative Officer

Dear Donors,

It is great news that all our children in the coaching class in Kodappu and Kajapet are entering the next academic year this June. 51 children were being coached in our coaching classes and all of them have been promoted. Of these children, 2 girls and 2 boys wrote their High School Board exams. They passed with  43% of marks (on an average) and are going to the Higher Secondary School now.

Of the 4 children who wrote their Board exams, Jillu (name changed), 15 years, scored 63% of marks. Her mother died a few years ago. Her father got remarried and does not take care of the Jillu. Jillu has two sisters. Both of them are married. Her elder sister, who is a coolie, is taking care of Jillu.  Though she is living in a difficult circumstance, Jillu wants to study more. She wants to become a policewoman. Dear donors, her dream can come true only with your support.  Help us wipe her tears.

May was the vacation for the children. During this month they were motivated to borrow more books from the mobile library and read books of varied nature.  A meeting was held in Kodappu for the members and non-members of the mobile library on 29th April 2019. Five of the members volunteered to share their experience with the mobile library with others.

One of the members who is a schoolboy studying 9th standard shared how his vocabulary in English is developed after joining the library. Two of the girls shared about interesting incidents in the lives of two great leaders, that inspired them.

During this quarter, we are planning to take the children on exposure visit. We need $300 for this. Also, we need a minimum of $300 to pay for two coaching class teachers salary.  We received $100 during the last quarter which is insufficient. Dear donors, we could run the programme only with your generous donations. Kindly keep supporting these children, who strive hard to overcome their oddities. Please keep spreading words about our project and the poor children who are being supported by us.

We thank you once again for supporting us.

With regards

Jillu
