Dear Donors,
It’s a great pleasure to meet you all again. This quarter is filled with fun and joy for the children with programmes to participate and the festival "Diwali" to celebrate. The children had been to two exhibitions this quarter. One is a Coin Exhibition which displayed coins from different eras. The children were happy to see the age old coins and coins of other countries. The other one is a science exhibition which displayed several scientific inventions and experiments. The children found the exhibition to be useful as they can link what they saw with what they are studying.
The Rotary Club of Trichirappalli Shakthi had great pleasure in visiting our early learning centre and coaching class. They distributed sweets to the coaching class children as a nice gesture of celebrating the Diwali festival. A generous donor donated bags for the coaching class children in this quarter.
There is an onspread of fevers and viral infections in our area during this season. Hence the coaching class children were given "Nilavembu Kashayam" a herbal medicinal decoction for prevention and management of the infections and fevers.
Rosa (name changed) thanks you for helping her learn. Rosa is studying sixth standard. She has an elder sister and a younger brother. All the three come to our coaching class. Rosa was scoring less than 35% when she joined our coaching class. Now she has improved and is scoring 50%. Rosa's father is a drunkard. He never works. He often fights with the neighbours and goes to prison. Her mother goes for coolie work in marriage functions. So her income is not stable.
In Rosa’s words, “My father when drunk beats my mother and all the 3 of us and wanted us to leave the house. After continued torture my mother and 3 of us shifted to a separate house with the help of my aunt (mother’s sister). Our aunt doesn’t want to get married as she is taking care of us. We dont have anyone at home to help in our studies. Thank you for coaching us free in the evenings.”
Rosa’s aunt works as a nurse. Rosa wants to earn more, move to a better locality whe she grows up. Rosa’s favourite subject is Maths and she wants to become a Maths Teacher. She loves to dance.
Dear Donors, this project was funded by the community grant of GlobalGiving for the last one year and was running smoothly. Now it depends entirely on your generous donations. Kindly donate during this year end and enjoy the joy of the festival by giving to those children like Rosa who need your support to grow. Thank you for spreading words to your friends and relatives and sharing our page in social media too.
You can make the greatest impact by starting a monthly recurring donation this year end to your favourite project. Perplexed how! Your initial donaion will be matched 100% by GlobalGiving. Kindly donate to this project so that the deprived children we teach/coach in the evenings grow up as learned ones and help their families and community.
WISHING YOU A MERRY CHRISTMAS AND A HAPPY NEW YEAR!
With regards
