CLUB 10 INITIATIVE: Clean Water and Sanitation

Unsafe water

Suffering from avoidable health problems has become a tragic way of life in developing countries. It is even worse in East Pokot, one of the poorest regions in Kenya. Most residents here are challenged by the burden of infectious disease, malnutrition, and health complications simply because they do not have access to clean drinking water. The Common water sources are local boreholes and small streams, whose waters are used for animals and people alike. The water is often contaminated and carries bacteria’s and parasites.  Through Hifadhi Africa’s project, Club 10 Initiative: Clean water and Sanitation, we are determined to put to an end death caused by unclean water in East Pokot.

Water filters for clean water

From the donations we received through June-July 2022, we have been able to purchase and distribute water filters in two villages in East Pokot. The water filters we use are simple, effective, and save lives. They are capable of filtering up to 1 million gallons of clean, safe water and do not require any replaceable parts.

Project beneficiaries.

Hifadhi Africa purchased 150 water filters and distributed them to the residents of Akwichatis and Akule villages.  250 households benefited from these water filters in the villages. The filter’s hollow fiber purification technology converts contaminated water into safe drinking water by removing a minimum of 99.9999% of bacteria, 99.999% of viruses and 99.99% of protozoan parasites.

Sustainable clean water

Access to clean, safe water is a catalyst for change and the first step to elevating communities from a cycle of sickness and poverty to one of health and hope.
