CLUB 10 INITIATIVE: Clean Water and Sanitation

10 OVER 10 CLUB

 A human being needs at least two liters of fresh water every day from what you drink and eat to stay heathy. For other basic needs such as water for cooking and cleaning, each person on earth should have access to 20-50 liters of safe, fresh water each day. Unfortunately, many people don’t.

 That is why Hifadhi Africa Organization invited our partners to support an initiative of ending water poverty in underprivileged communities in Kenya. The club 10 initiatives seek to support access to clean water and improved sanitation and hygiene in poor communities like East Pokot.

 IMPLEMENTATION

 With your continuous contribution towards this noble cause, we have raised USD 4,618, which enabled us travel to East Pokot and constructed a community borehole at Napeikorei Village. The borehole is meant to serve both the pupils at Napeikorei Primary school as well as the surrounding community.

 NO MORE HUNGER

 This project came in handy especially now when the area is experiencing severe drought and hunger. The villagers now have enough water for themselves as well as their livestock. To curb hunger, the villagers are now doing a community farming project where they are doing irrigation farming with the water. Currently they are planting kales for their home consumption. 

 MIGRATION LIFESTYLE

Availability of water in the area has also stopped the migratory lifestyle of these pastoralist community. They can now concentrate on their farming initiative and also take their children to school.
