Climate change is threatening education, health, and livelihoods in northern Nigeria-today. This project equips 300 secondary school students in Bauchi State with climate knowledge and practical skills to protect their environment. Through interactive lessons and student-led actions, young people become informed climate advocates, creating immediate and lasting impact in their schools and communities.
Bauchi State faces rising heat, flooding, deforestation, and water scarcity, yet students receive little climate education. Many young people do not understand climate risks or how to respond. Without early intervention, communities remain vulnerable, environmental damage increases, and the next generation lacks the skills needed for climate resilience and sustainable development.
We will deliver a structured, school-based climate education program to 300 students using trained facilitators. Students will learn climate science, local impacts, and practical solutions such as tree planting and waste reduction. Climate clubs will be formed to sustain learning and encourage peer leadership, ensuring the program is affordable, scalable, and effective.
Educated students become lifelong environmental stewards. This project will strengthen climate awareness, promote sustainable behaviors, and inspire youth-led action beyond the classroom. Over time, students influence families and communities, contributing to reduced environmental degradation and improved climate resilience across Bauchi State.
