Summary
This project aims to provide access to clean and safe drinking water to underserved communities in multiple districts across Pakistan, including flood-affected and drought-prone regions. The initiative focuses on installing water filtration units, rehabilitating hand pumps, and raising awareness around safe water practices. While the need remains critical, the project’s implementation timeline has been delayed due to slow fundraising and lack of sufficient donor contributions on the GlobalGiving platform.
Progress and Challenges 1. Community Mobilization and Needs Assessment
Despite limited resources, the Sanash Welfare Foundation team successfully conducted initial assessments in 4 locations in northern Sindh and southern Punjab. Key outcomes included:
Identification of 3 high-need communities with no access to clean drinking water.
Community engagement sessions held with over 75 households to identify safe water needs and potential local champions.
2. Funding Status and Delays
As of June 2025, the project has raised approximately $420 out of the $10,000 target, representing only 4.2% of the goal.
Due to insufficient funds, implementation of physical water infrastructure (hand pumps and filtration systems) could not begin as originally scheduled in Q2 2025.
Donor outreach, visibility campaigns, and partnership appeals have been launched, but require time and further amplification.
Impacts Achieved Despite Limited Funding
Though implementation has not fully commenced, some preparatory milestones were achieved:
3 local volunteers trained in water safety and mobilization techniques.
Development of a site prioritization matrix based on water contamination levels, population density, and vulnerability.
Basic water testing kits distributed in 2 communities for community-led tracking of contamination indicators.
Next Steps
To proceed with the project, the following actions are planned:
Fundraising Acceleration (Q3 2025)
Launch a targeted donor appeal campaign through GlobalGiving’s July Bonus Day.
Engage with CSR partners in water, sanitation, and corporate sectors for match-funding opportunities.
Pilot Implementation (Q4 2025 – Conditional on Funding)
Begin installation of 2 solar-powered water filtration systems in priority villages.
Launch school-based awareness drives on safe water and hygiene.
Monitoring Framework Development
Finalize baseline indicators for access, quality, and usage of water post-installation.
Train local community members to monitor usage and maintain systems.
Appeal to Supporters
Access to clean water is not a luxury—it is a basic human right. In many parts of Pakistan, especially in climate-affected zones, families are drinking unsafe water daily, resulting in rising health issues, particularly among children. We humbly appeal to our donors and well-wishers to support this life-saving project. Even a small contribution can change a child’s life by giving them access to safe, clean drinking water.
