New target of our project in 2020

River water in An Binh Islet
River water in An Binh Islet

“Vinh Long province is located at the southern of Vietnam. The main terrain is the delta which is divided by many rivers and canals. Many people know water resources are polluted in Vinh Long province. While we visited and served our sponsored families in An Binh Islet, we discovered more factors of water pollution locally. Both groundwater and surface water are two major water resources in Vinh Long province. However, groundwater supply alone would be insufficient to meet demand and surface water is polluted seriously by human activities, such as chemical fertilizers and pesticides used in agriculture, livestock manure, human sewage and waste, sludge from fish ponds etc. Although agriculture and aquaculture are the main livelihood activities in Vietnam, people are not capable to solve the widespread problem of water pollution individually.

We have to fix the water problem through government investments with enough financial budget to establish local infrastructures and consider daily habits and livelihood activities which impact the environment. It’s really a long way to go, however, we are grateful for the support and donation from you and we will keep moving forward in 2020.”

New target of our project in 2020

Have you noticed that we have changed our project title? While working on the water project in these years, we found that we have to do more for children. It won’t be good enough to help in school only, we also want to help their daily life. Thank you for your support to our project and allow us to move to the further step. We keep organizing resources and establishing the water pipeline system between the main tap water pipe and households in An Binh commune and Dong Phu commune. However, we also want to raise the awareness of households about the water issues. We will catch any chance to educate and encourage good habits to our assisted children and families. Thank you for being with us!

With gratitude,

Wen Hung
