“Due to our water problem, bottled water is a convenient solution in Vietnam because we knew that drinking safe water is a prerequisite for reducing the spread of water-borne diseases. We usually purchased many plastic water bottles in our school. Now we could reduce plastic water bottles and have direct environmental and financial benefits.

I would like to take the time to thank you and the foundation for providing the funding and setting for water purifier system and making it possible to drink clean and safe water in our school. You are giving a significant impact to all people in our school. Thank you!”

- Message from a school affairs administrative staff at An Binh Secondary School

Positive change in schools

Since 2017, TFCF Vietnam has decided to propose a GlobalGiving clean water project for schools in Vinh Long Province and delivered two sets of Water Purifier Systems for two schools finally. I really appreciate all the efforts people put in to making that happen.

Even donations gradually declined during the period of economic distress, we know that we could overcome the challenge together with you and keep seeking the best welfare for children and families in need. Please invite more people like you and support our project as much as you could. Clean and safe water must be provided for more children and schools in Vietnam. However, we failed to do more due to limited resources. We are unable to accomplish it alone without you. Let’s work together to make all positive changes in Vietnam.

With gratitude,

Wen Hung

“Water problem is one of serious issues in Vietnam. We know that safe water is very important to children, however, we are unable to have a total solution and resolve this problem by schools due to our financial limitations.

We were immensely grateful for your help! I still remember that when the school announced this good news to all of teachers and students, everyone was so happy and looked forward it. Finally, the water purifier system is ready to use and most of children enjoy drinking water a lot at school. We hereby express our sincere acknowledgement to the donors, GlobalGiving and TFCF Vietnam for your great supports to our students.”

System maintenance

In order to offer clean water to children as soon as we could, we did keep our schedule to deliver the Water Purifier System on time. However, we still monitor and inspect the system periodically. We work with schools and vendors to improve the system continually, such as pipe connection problem. We’ve learned that the system maintenance is also important to ensure the quality of drinking water.

The cost of clean water

With limited resources on hands, we now could only provide water purifier systems for two schools even we know that there are still many schools waiting for water purifier systems. I would like to invite you to join us and share the project information to more people you know. Let’s work together to benefit more children and provide them the basic needs of clean water. It’s great to see we have moved a bit forward and we are going to make more impact on children with you together. Thank you for being with us in Vietnam!

With gratitude,

Wen Hung

Daniel is a 17-year-old student in 9th grade in An Binh Secondary School and he is one of TFCF sponsored children in Vietnam.

“I am excited to know that TFCF supports our school to install the Water Purifier System recently. We are very happy that we can access safe water! No color, no strange odor and no harmful components! The system helps us stay healthy and improve our environment conditions in learning as well. I am sincerely grateful for all your support and donation. Thank you for giving the water Purifier system at our beloved school. I promise that my friends and I will carefully use this system as appropriate under any circumstances. We will treat all people with love and sponsor back to needy people for the glory of our sponsors.”

Systems installment complete

We had spent around one week to install water purifier system at An Binh Secondary School and Tan Hanh Secondary School. During the installation, we found that there were water pressure issues in these two schools and caused the problem of water purifier system running. In order to fix the low water pressure problem, we added new water tank stands at Tan Hanh Secondary School and installed one more water tank at An Binh Secondary school. The supplier has collected and delivered filtering water samples for the examination by the government agency after all installation complete, and we are pleased to have received the certification and ensure to provide clean and safe water for children finally. We are very grateful for your support about our cause and make drinking water available to children in Vietnam.

Happy New Year 2018~

In the past year, thank you very much for your donation to us and I hope you recognize the value of our services for needy children and families. The Lunar New Year is coming soon, we look forward to continuing to provide children and families with the most valuable services available through TFCF branches. We want to thank you all for your tremendous support last year. Our work would not be possible without you.

I wish you and your family a joyful, healthy and prosperous new year ahead!

With gratitude,

Wen Hung

“TFCF has supported the social work in Vinh Long province since 2015. Vinh Long province is 135 km far away from Ho Chi Minh City and we found children faced acute water and sanitation crisis during our visits. Most of families use river water in their daily lives, and some of them even don't have toilets. After estimating the impact of water, sanitation and hygiene on diseases of our assisted families, I think river water drinking is the key as a cluster of risk factors. We really hope the condition will be changed through our project which will benefit more children in Vinh Long. As a social worker, I will love to see the health of children improve. It is for sure that you can count on us and we look forward to the start of this project. Thank you for your support in this matter.”

- Message from Kevin, TFCF social worker in Vietnam

Project Kickoff

We have finalized two candidate schools in our project, including An Binh Secondary School and Tan Hanh Secondary School which are making good progress. We have visited them with the supplier recently since both schools obtained the approval from the local authority and were ready to start the project soon. In the meetings, we clarified most of issues and signed the agreements with two schools and the supplier. We also organized an introduction of water purifier system for the school principal and staff, including the functions and the procedure of installment by the supplier. Furthermore, the supplier has done good site surveys and finalized the detail and locations of the installment of water purifier system. It’s great to tell you that we have kicked off the project and the supplier will deliver all hardware and parts of system later to two schools separately. The installment of water purifier system will be started as soon as possible. Thank you for your great support and please help invite more people to join our project and let’s bring clean and safe water to schoolchildren together.

Binh is an 11-year-old student in 5th grade in Vinh Long Province. His father passed away few years ago and he lives with his mother and younger sister. As a single mother, Binh’s mother is the only breadwinner in the family and has received TFCF assistance since 2016.

“I’m living in Vinh Long Province. We don’t have either clean water or toilet at home. We go outside directly into the river or pond because we only have the traditional fish pond toilet. I am thinking to have clean water in my school and drinking pure water is one of my wishes. I am so happy that my wish is coming true soon and thank you for your support to me and our classmates.”

Be well prepared

Although Vietnam has improved its water supply situation in the past few years, in terms of rural water and sanitation issues, Vietnam still has to face many challenges that require a lot of efforts to improve. There are many schoolchildren having the same wish as Binh’s, and I hope we have an opportunity to work together with you in the future.

Firstly, we will select two schools including primary and secondary schools in Vinh Long Province which have TFCF assisted children and may participate in our clean water project after reviewing their needs and school conditions with school teachers and staffs. To speed up the project, we have started our procurement process and finalized the list of qualified suppliers, we will move forward the preparation work soon and hope to bring clean and safe water to schoolchildren through establishing water purifier systems in schools.

Make the meaningful impact

We are honored that you join us and support our cause. In order to make the meaningful impact of your charitable donations, I would like to invite you to share your friends and family about our project - share the link on your blogs or social networks, use the tell-a-friend feature on the project page to email your network, or just bring us up in conversation. Let’s work with more people together to improve children a better environment and prevent from hygiene-related disease.

Thank you and wish you all the best.
