1. Project Progress
Karitas Relief Mission continues its efforts to improve access to clean and safe drinking water for vulnerable rural communities in Bukandula, Butonda and Kasaala.
Access to safe water remains a serious challenge for many families. Women and children are particularly affected because they often travel long distances in search of water for drinking, cooking, washing and other household activities.
2. Community Needs
During our community engagements, residents expressed their concern about the difficulties they experience in accessing reliable sources of clean water. Some families are forced to depend on unsafe water sources, exposing children and adults to waterborne diseases.
The situation also affects school attendance, household responsibilities and the general well-being of families.
3. Proposed Intervention
We are working towards establishing reliable clean water sources to serve these communities. Our plans include drilling boreholes, installing appropriate pumping systems and ensuring that the water points are accessible to surrounding households.
The project will prioritize vulnerable families, children, elderly people and women who carry the greatest burden of water collection.
4. Expected Impact
The project aims to:
- Provide families with reliable access to clean drinking water.
- Reduce waterborne diseases.
- Reduce the distance women and children travel to collect water.
- Improve hygiene and sanitation in the communities.
- Give children more time to attend school and concentrate on their education.
5. Challenges and Support Needed
Limited financial resources remain our greatest challenge. Drilling boreholes and installing complete water systems requires substantial funding, which our organization cannot independently provide.
We are therefore appealing to generous donors and development partners to support this important intervention.
6. Way Forward
We remain committed to mobilizing resources and working with community leaders to make clean water accessible to these villages.
Clean water is not a luxury; it is a basic human necessity. Through your support, we can protect families from preventable diseases, restore dignity and give communities hope for a healthier future.
Together, we can bring clean water closer to families who need it most.
