A Well Successfully Built and Presented.

By Dungrila Pascal Mbimenyuy. | I.A.A Director/Project Leader.

A Well with Hand Pump has been successfully built and presented to the Fulani people in Mogny village of Foumbot Sub-division in the west region of Cameroon. We have attached some photos here and hope you would like to see.
Impact:
Water is life. And that life flows through women—the primary users and collectors of water worldwide. For millions of women, access to water shapes everything from health to education to economic opportunity. Women walk for water. They manage water resources. And when they lead, water solutions are up to seven times more effective.
We are happy to end Waterborne diseases and water poverty amongst the Fulani community in Mogny village, Foumbot sub-division, of West region Cameroon, with over 1700 inhabitants, 65% are IDPs and Fulani Women. We have put an end to Long travels to fetch dirty water, economic time lost by women, school time lost by children will be recovered, diseases reduced and overall health and well-being.
This deep Well with hand pump is climate resilient and adapted to the local realities because, in a remote rural village, they can maintain it, extreme weather events like flooding, and over drought cannot affect the newly constructed water facility. The water will always flow during all weathers and dry seasons.
Challenge:
Our team traveled a distance of 210kms from the head office to the project site, and due to the urgency of the project, we had to cut our operational budget to complete the project. The overall project budget was $10000 but unfortunately we raised around $7900. We hope that during the Little by Little campaign on GlobalGiving which runs from March 25-28, donations up to $50 will be 100% matched by GlobalGiving. If we are able to raise $2100 we will build a fence to protect the Well against impending danger from livestock and cover up for our operational budget.
Evolution:
We will scale up this project to provide water and sanitation access, including irrigation for food security and health outcomes for Fulani communities and other remote areas without access to clean water.
With profound gratitude for what you have done for the Cameroonian people. We are so grateful for your support.

Thank you!
