Integrated Agricultural Association (IAA) has dug two Wells in Mogny-Kouffen village, Foumbot sub-division, West Region of Cameroon. IAA has fabricated 28 rings with cement and iron to enhance the walls of the well and protect it against future collapse. As the dryseason approaches, IAA is hoping to install the hand pumps and officially inaugurate the water infrastructure for over 1700 people in the area. At present, the population uses a rub to draw water from the Well since that the only available source of clean water, while waiting for IAA to install hand pumps.
The project location is about 65km from IAA's head office and the cost of travel for project follow-up is very high. Considering that, the two Wells are located in the same village, IAA would want to reduce frequent travels to the area in order to reduces waste of finances and wait until the project is fully funded. The hand pumps are very expensive to purchase and transport to the sites for installation and displacement cost for technicians is also high, such that IAA cannot go to complete one Well and leave the other. Therefore, of $10000 goal, IAA still need around $4000 to go, which will help purchase and install the two Wells by January 2024 if funding is available.
Water is life and a human right, it is uncceptable for anyone anywhere and unjust for people to live without access to clean and safe drinking water. When you make a donation through GlobalGiving, you are helping IAA to provide clean and safe drinking water to the people of Mogny-Kouffen Community in Cameroon.
