Love Kitchen - Feeding Disadvantaged Children

By Victor Yisa | President

As part of its unwavering commitment to poverty alleviation and sustainable community development, Vision Center International (VCI) successfully implemented the fourth edition of the Love Kitchen Programduring the first quarter of 2026. This initiative continues to serve as a compassionate response to the growing food insecurity affecting vulnerable populations in Niger State, Nigeria.

Notably, this quarter’s outreach was strengthened through a successful collaboration with Med Cure Foundation, a Texas-based nonprofit organization dedicated to providing free health and wellness checks and education. This partnership reflects VCI’s commitment to building global alliances that enhance the quality and reach of its humanitarian efforts.

The Q1 outreach was held at VCI’s corporate office in Dutsen Kura, Minna, whereover 300 children were provided with warm, nutritious meals. This edition proved to be the most impactful to date, reflecting both increased community need and VCI’s expanding capacity to respond effectively. While the program was primarily designed to serve children, several adults—also affected by the ongoing economic and hunger crisis—benefited from the outreach, further highlighting the depth of need within the community.

Beyond meal provision, the program incorporated recreational and psychosocial support activities, including games and a lively dancing competition. These activities were intentionally designed to provide emotional relief, restore joy, and create a sense of normalcy for children facing daily hardship. The atmosphere fostered dignity, inclusion, and a strong sense of community.

Although a single meal cannot fully address the challenges of hunger, the Love Kitchen Program continues to provide more than nourishment—it delivers hope, compassion, and affirmation to each beneficiary, reinforcing that they are seen, valued, and supported.

Looking ahead, VCI remains committed to expanding the Love Kitchen Program into a more regular and sustainable outreach initiative, with the goal of reaching more communities consistently. Future phases of the program will include distributing clothing and hygiene packs, further addressing the holistic needs of vulnerable children and families.

Through initiatives like Love Kitchen, and in collaboration with partners such as Med Cure Foundation, Vision Center International continues to demonstrate its mission in action—serving humanity with love, restoring dignity, and building stronger, healthier communities.
