This project will provide clean, safe drinking water, sanitation, and hygiene education to up to 1,800 children and community members in rural Siem Reap Province, Cambodia, helping to alleviate waterborne disease, illness, and death caused by drinking contaminated water. The beneficiary school will receive an AquaTower, delivering clean, safe drinking water and handwashing facilities to students, and an AquaSan, providing capability to sanitize the school to WHO standards.
Globally, one in eight people (over 1 billion) lack access to clean, safe drinking water. In Cambodia, one in three use water from unsafe drinking sources and seven in ten primary schools do not have access to handwashing facilities. With access to clean water, handwashing facilities, and sanitation more important than ever before, this project will address these critical areas.
Planet Water will deploy an AquaTower, our community-based water filtration system which meets the daily drinking water requirements for up to 1,800 people and includes an integrated handwashing station, an AquaSan, our mobile surface disinfection system for schools delivering sanitation capability to WHO standards, and our activity-based water-health and hygiene education program - which will be delivered in both a primary school and the local community.
This project will provide long-lasting access to clean, safe water and handwashing facilities to community members in one village in Siem Reap, Cambodia. This will help to alleviate waterborne disease, illness, and death caused by drinking contaminated water, along with allowing more women and children to go to school instead of collecting water for hours each day. In addition, the hygiene education sessions will help drive behavior change which can save lives.
