Water is a basic necessity for life. However, access to clean drinking water remains a pressing issue with 748 million, or approximately one in every ten, people across the globe without access to an improved water source, while 2 billion, or one in four, people use a drinking water source with fecal contamination.
Rates of water poverty are even higher in some communities, including areas of rural Cambodia, where more than three in every 10 people do not have access to an improved water source, while we can estimate that the rate of people using contaminated water is higher still. Meanwhile, UNICEF estimates that approximately 35% of health centers in the country do not have access to safe water and sanitation, demonstrating the scale of need for clean water in these crucial settings.
As of April 2023, we have identified potential sites for this project and are looking forward to making an impact once sufficient funds have been raised to cover the costs of the project.
