Just six months ago, through all of your gracious donations, an AquaTower, along with hygiene education, was deployed at Taek Primary School in Siem Reap. Prior to the AquaTower, this school and community did not have access to clean water, causing many, especially children, to suffer from chronic waterborne illnesses.
Hear what the community is saying after just six months of having clean, safe water and hygiene education...
“I always bring my water bottle to the school to collect clean water from the water tower. This water is delicious and drinking it does not cause diarrhea. During the school time, my teacher encourages students to bring this clean water home. I really enjoy this tower and always wash my hands now..." said Sam , 11 year old boy at Taek Primary School.
“In the past, I neglected the clean water issue. When my family and I were busy with rice planning, my children drank water from the water jar and then they would have diarrhea. After the tower installation at the school, I can bring clean water from the tower to drink at my home. This tower also reduces my time to find firewood for boiling water, my children never get diarrhea any more, and my children's school attendance is very much improved. I thank the people who donated this tower to our community," said Mrs. Un , mother of three living in Taek Village.
Taek Village is the first of two impoverished communities we are fundraising for. Neither village has access to electricity or clean water. Sok Nha, school headmaster, told us, "Our students do not have access to clean water at school or at home. The most wanted thing, and highest priority for us here is clean water - it's more important than having electricity."
Again, thank you all for making this dream a reality for over 1,000 people in need!
