Turning Community Ambition into Sustainable Busine

By Leigh Ingram | Project worker

Dear Friends,

Thank you for your continued support of our Solar Business Incubation Hub project in rural Malaysia. Every donation is helping us move closer to creating lasting economic opportunities for Orang Asli communities through clean energy and entrepreneurship.

Since our last update, we have continued working closely with community members to prepare for the launch of the business hubs. The enthusiasm shown by local entrepreneurs has not diminished, and we have been encouraged by the continued commitment from communities that are eager to begin operating their own businesses.

Our business development work has progressed well. Together with local partners, we have continued refining business plans, identifying equipment requirements and ensuring that each enterprise is designed to meet genuine local demand. By taking this approach, we are helping to create businesses that are not only successful at launch but also sustainable for years to come.

We have also continued planning the renewable energy systems that will power the hubs. Every solar panel, battery and inverter installed will provide reliable electricity for businesses that would otherwise struggle to operate in these remote locations. Reliable power will enable entrepreneurs to offer services such as food refrigeration, tailoring, hairdressing, welding and small retail businesses—services that currently require residents to travel more than two hours to the nearest town.

One of the most rewarding aspects of this project is seeing the communities take ownership of their future. Rather than waiting for solutions to be delivered, local people continue to contribute ideas, improve facilities and prepare themselves for the opportunities the hubs will bring. This level of community ownership gives us great confidence that the businesses created through this project will continue to thrive long after the initial investment.

While progress on the ground has been encouraging, fundraising remains our biggest challenge. Every donation received now will go directly towards purchasing the renewable energy equipment, business infrastructure and essential tools needed to transform carefully developed plans into thriving local enterprises.

Together, we are creating far more than business premises. We are building opportunities for employment, supporting women and young entrepreneurs, reducing the need for costly travel and demonstrating a model that has the potential to benefit hundreds of remote Orang Asli communities across Malaysia.

Thank you for believing in the power of clean energy to create sustainable livelihoods. Your continued support is helping turn ambition into opportunity and opportunity into lasting change.

With sincere thanks,
