The Society for Minors' Protection and Development (SMPD) has identified 10 communities in need of clean drinking water and decided to install handpumps. The communities requested these handpumps, as they serve as a common source of drinking water in rural areas. Handpumps are not only essential for fetching water but also serve as social hubs where women and children gather and interact while collecting water for their families.
The handpumps are installed at a distance from wells, ensuring the villagers access cleaner, higher-quality water. Each pump is equipped with a strong platform where villagers can place their water pots as they fill them using a pumping machine. This clean water source is crucial for maintaining good health, as the polluted canal water in the region often leads to illnesses like food poisoning and stomach problems. SMPD is committed to providing services that promote healthier lives for these communities.
SMPD has successfully installed its first handpump through the Clean Drinking Water Access Project. We are deeply thankful to our supporters who have trusted and encouraged our efforts. We hope to raise more funds to meet our target and continue serving these communities.
