Every Child Deserves a Classroom, Not a Kiln

Every Child Deserves a Classroom, Not a Kiln

1. Project Overview

“Classrooms for Brick Kiln Children in Pakistan” is a long-term education and child protection initiative by Moses Welfare Foundation. The project is dedicated to transforming the lives of children born into brick kiln labor communities where poverty, exploitation, and lack of access to education have trapped generations.

This initiative will establish safe, child-friendly learning spaces near brick kilns, offering free education, basic needs, and emotional support to help children break free from child labor and build a brighter future.

2. Problem Statement

In Pakistan, thousands of children working in brick kiln communities face extreme deprivation:

  • No access to formal schooling
  • Forced child labor alongside families
  • Exposure to unhealthy working environments (dust, smoke, heat)
  • Lack of books, uniforms, and educational support
  • Generational poverty with no escape route

These children are denied their fundamental right to education, leaving them vulnerable to lifelong poverty and exploitation.

Without intervention, the cycle of child labor continues across generations.

3. Project Objectives

This project aims to:

  • Establish safe classrooms near brick kiln areas
  • Provide free quality education to out-of-school children
  • Supply books, stationery, uniforms, and learning materials
  • Offer nutritious meals during school hours
  • Provide emotional care and child-friendly learning support
  • Reduce and ultimately eliminate child labor through education

4. Target Beneficiaries

  • Children of brick kiln workers
  • Out-of-school and child labor victims
  • Families living in extreme poverty in kiln communities

5. Project Activities

  • Construction and setup of learning classrooms near brick kilns
  • Enrollment of children previously engaged in labor
  • Recruitment and training of qualified teachers
  • Daily educational instruction (basic literacy, numeracy, life skills)
  • Distribution of school supplies and uniforms
  • Meal provision for attending children
  • Community awareness sessions on child rights and education

6. Expected Impact

This project will create a deep and lasting transformation:

  • Withdrawal of children from hazardous labor environments
  • Increased school enrollment in marginalized communities
  • Improved literacy and education levels among kiln children
  • Healthier childhood development through nutrition and care
  • Long-term break in the cycle of poverty and child labor

Generational Impact:
Educated children will grow into empowered adults, breaking the cycle of exploitation and becoming contributors to society.

7. Budget Summary

  • Total Project Goal: $14,000
  • Amount Raised: $291
  • Remaining Need: $13,709
  • Donors: 5
  • Monthly Donors: 0
  • Project Duration: 11 months

8. Use of Funds

Funds will be allocated to:

  • Construction and setup of classrooms
  • Teacher salaries and training
  • Educational materials (books, stationery, boards)
  • Student uniforms and supplies
  • Meal program for children
  • Learning environment maintenance and safety

9. Current Situation & Urgency

As of August 2025, the project has received minimal funding despite the ongoing need. Thousands of children remain trapped in brick kiln labor conditions, without access to education or protection.

This is not just a development project; it is a lifeline for children whose future is being shaped by poverty instead of opportunity.

Immediate support is essential to expand classrooms and reach more children before another generation is lost to labor.

10. Conclusion

“Classrooms for Brick Kiln Children in Pakistan” is more than an education program; it is a movement to restore childhood, dignity, and hope.

Every classroom built represents freedom from labor. Every child enrolled represents a future rewritten.

Together, we can turn dust-covered dreams into educated, empowered realities.
