As the year comes to a close we are happy to say things at AmbergrisCaye Elementary School continue to progress. The Library Classroom project has been a complete success and we are beginning to plan for next year and are seeing the need for expansion once again. As we grow and our student body increases it is apparent we need yet another classroom.
This time the classroom will be because of growth due to the addition of a Special Needs classroom. Currently, we have taken on an additional teacher to work with children with "Special Needs". Since Spetember Sarah Freudenberg has tried to work within the current structure. However, it was more than apparent she and these children needed their own space. So, once again we blended two of our smaller classrooms to make space for children who just learn differently.
Currently, we have three students with autism, one with a processing disorder and others who just need a little remedial work. The philosophy at Ambergris Caye Elementary school is one that is child focused. We believe that in order for every child to reach their highest potential they need one on one attention. Our Special Needs Program is doing just that for these children.
Now, however, we need another classroom to give the space back to the classes we had to blend. Running a school is an ever evolving process. I hope you find it in your heat this Holiday season to help us grow our little school, yet again, to provide children in San Pedro, Belize with an education and loving environment second to none. Thanking you in advance for your generosity. Happy Holidays!
