Cleft lip and palate is a major problem in developing countries where there are millions of patients wandering around with untreated clefts. They cannot eat or speak properly. In most of the societies, a baby born with clef is considered a curse by God. In some parts of the world, these newborns are abandoned right after birth and even the husband may divorce his wife for giving birth to a cleft child. Pakistan is one of countries, where incidence of congenital anomalies is very high.
CLAPP's mission is to provide every child born with curable disease the same opportunities in life as a child born without.CLAPP would identify and provide free cleft surgeries to the poor cleft patients. By performing surgeries at an early (appropriate) stage, CLAPP TRUST will provide thousands of people an equal opportunity to get education, good job and all other benefits. CLAPP Trust will serve as the training hub for young surgeons and paramedical staff of Pakistan and neighboring countries
If the people born with cleft lip/palate are treated in time, they can enjoy the life like a normal person. They can get good education, they will get good jobs, there will be no discriminatory feeling anymore and they will be prevented from social rejection and can lead a good social life. Proper and in time surgery will give little angels back their life and the opportunity to live a full, happy and productive life. These patients will come out from psychological pressure.
