Community Knowledge Worker (CKW) Progress Report

We’re so thankful for all the support that helped us achieve our previous fundraising goal for our Community Knowledge Worker (CKW) project. We’re excited to announce that we’ve increased our goal to in order to reach even more farmers!

With our CKW project, farmers are getting the information they need to improve their livelihoods and provide for their families. Our CKWs and the farmers they serve are sharing the information they learn with others – instilling lasting knowledge and positive change across entire villages.

So far, we have achieved the following thanks to your generosity:

  • Our CKWs have had more than 1.88 million interactions with farmers!
  • More than 1,200 CKWs are currently helping farmers by providing tips on how best to care for their crops and livestock – which they depend on for both their food and their income. We’ve now reached 212,000 total farmers helped.
  • Our CKW program has reached a total of 20,000 villages, 5,000 more villages reached than this time last year.

The information that CKWs learn and impart is essential to the success of local farmers. Angel, a cacao farmer in Colombia, used to struggle with pests, flooding, and other dangers to his crop. Then, he connected with a Grameen Foundation CKW who used a mobile phone to search for information about crop management, market prices, and fair trade certification. Angel consulted regularly with his CKW and learned to grow better crops. Now, Angel is a member of the Asocati agricultural cooperative and is on track to becoming certified by Fairtrade International! He has also started selling chickens and eggs to make more money.

Thank you once again for your compassion and generosity. You are helping poor farmers get the information they need to manage their crops and lift themselves out of poverty. Won’t you consider making another donation today so that we can help even more farmers?
