Dear friends and supporters,
The first half of 2025 has been full of action, growth, and hope here at Fundación CrezcoNut. Thanks to your support through GlobalGiving, we’ve been able to continue fighting chronic child malnutrition in some of the most vulnerable areas of Ecuador, while expanding our community programs and improving the lives of hundreds of mothers and children.
Here are some key highlights from January to June 2025:
Community Brigades and Nutrition Programs
We conducted 32 medical and nutrition brigades across the provinces of Chimborazo, Santa Elena, Azuay, and Morona Santiago, providing services to over 850 children under 2 years old and 460 pregnant and breastfeeding women.
Every family received tailored nutritional assessments, parasite treatments, iron supplements, and growth monitoring for their children.
Education and Empowerment
We launched 9 educational workshops for mothers and caregivers focused on maternal nutrition, early childhood stimulation, and safe food practices.
Our team introduced an early stimulation playbook for families, now being used in rural health centers.
Food Kits and Supplementation
Through our partnership with local governments and donors like you, we distributed over 600 monthly nutrition kits filled with protein sources, fresh produce, and fortified cereals.
These food kits are now complemented with iron and vitamin A supplementation, essential for reducing anemia rates in children.
Strategic Partnerships
In June, we signed new cooperation agreements with community leaders and local authorities in the Atahualpa parish, allowing us to expand services in 4 new rural communities.
We also strengthened our collaboration with health workers and trained 18 local volunteers to help track children's progress and promote family health education.
Results and Impact
Initial follow-up data shows a 15% reduction in moderate anemia among participating children after three months in our program.
We’ve also observed increased attendance at health brigades and better adherence to growth-monitoring appointments.
As we enter the second half of the year, we are preparing to scale up our programs, implement community gardens, and continue building capacity among rural health workers. But none of this would be possible without your continued support.
Thank you for believing in our mission. Together, we are planting seeds of change — and the results are already blooming in the smiles of healthier, stronger children.
With gratitude,
Giuliana Escala
