We are a non-profit organization that seeks to eradicate chronic child malnutrition in Ecuador with a community based therapeutic program. Since we are the second country in Latin America and the Caribbean with the highest rate of malnutrition. Our program is based on the administration of ready-to-use therapeutic food for 500 children under 5 years old, treating them correctly and in time, this will prevent the repercussions of malnutrition becoming irreversible, affecting their future.
Ecuador is a country where chronic malnutrition affects 1 in 4 children between 6 months and 5 years of age, and the second country in Latin America and the Caribbean with the highest rate in adolescent pregnancy as well, since mothers who are not healthy cannot give birth to healthy children, aggravating the problem and the reason why we have been in this vicious circle for more than 3 decades. We are talking about 580,000 children under 5 years old suffering daily irreversible damage
Our program is community-based, we administer ready-to-use therapeutic treatments, already being used in more than 70 countries around the world. Has a duration of 4 months in which we propose to have maximum coverage, urgency of action, correct treatment and timely follow-up with weekly visits with our team made up of doctors, nurses, nutritionists, pedagogues, psychologists, volunteers and the community.
This pilot program will open doors for us to be able to carry out many more around Ecuador treating a generation that is about to be lost crossing the barrier of a thousand days when the repercussions of malnutrition become irreversible, with the first 500 children saved from malnutrition we can motivate and be an example for other private companies to donate and invest in the future of our country, the children.
