Summary

During the Christmas period, we will provide festive food packs, dignity kits, and cheerful activities to 1,000 vulnerable households across two Lagos communities, alongside two youth correctional centres for boys and girls. The project addresses hidden hunger, malnutrition, and period poverty, promoting inclusion and hope through practical support and verified follow-up.

Challenge

Households in peri-urban Lagos face rising food prices and seasonal pressure that worsen hidden hunger among children. Adolescent girls lack affordable menstrual products, which undermines dignity and participation. Youth in correctional centres are particularly isolated at Christmas, with limited access to nutritious meals and age-appropriate wellbeing activities.

Solution

Distribute family food packs in Ikorodu and Badagry to reduce short-term food insecurity during the holiday period. Provide reusable dignity kits and brief coaching for adolescent girls in both communities and at two correctional centres. Host festive meal days and supervised activities inside each centre, coordinated with centre staff to meet safeguarding standards. Use simple, repeatable logistics with photo-verified deliveries and short beneficiary notes for reporting.

Long-Term Impact

Immediate outcome: 1,000 households receive nutrition support; at least 400 girls receive dignity kits; approximately 300 to 400 youths in two correctional centres receive meals and constructive activities. Medium to Long-term: improved school readiness in January through reduced short-term hunger; better menstrual health practices; stronger community ties with correctional facilities that enable future learning and reintegration activities.
