Picture a courtyard full of children in their best clothes, music playing, plates of good food going around; that's Christmas at Peggy Lucas Center of Hope (Kibera) and Dalton Primary School (Samburu). Your donation funds the celebration: meals, gifts, games and festive cheer for these communities. Extra funds go straight back into the schools through scholarships, learning materials and meals that keep children fed and in class well beyond the holidays. Join us in spreading joy this Christmas!
Peggy Lucas Center of Hope supports vulnerable children in Kibera, one of Nairobi's largest informal settlements, while Dalton Primary School serves children in drought-affected Samburu County. Families at both schools stretch their income to cover fees and basic needs, leaving little for extras. December is the hardest stretch: terms end and budgets are thinnest. Without support, hundreds of children at Peggy Lucas and Dalton schools would see Christmas pass with no celebration at all.
UCESCO-Africa will hold a one-day Christmas celebration at each school, bringing children and families together for a shared meal, gifts, games, and festive activities led by staff and volunteers already working in both communities. Our existing presence reaches those most in need without extra overhead. Any funds raised beyond costs go straight back into the schools, supporting scholarships, learning materials and meal programs that keep children fed and enrolled beyond the holidays.
Past one day of celebration, this project builds trust between UCESCO-Africa and the families we serve, carrying into our year-round programs. Scholarships and materials funded by any surplus help more children stay enrolled next school year rather than drop out over cost. Over time, this support helps Peggy Lucas Center of Hope and Dalton Primary School retain students, improve attendance and give children in two of Kenya's most underserved communities a stronger foundation.
