The Brookings-Harbor Redshirts would like to dedicate this Christmas in July to our past Project Leader, Frank Muller. He passed away in April and will be truly missed by us all. He was a large part of our organizatin and started our partnership with Global Giving.
This is our 8th year of sending care care packages to our troops in harm's way for Christmas in July. Our main concern is to help raise their morale and show them that we care about them by boosting their spirits with wrapped Christmas presents. We are located in Brookings-Harbor Oregon. The first town on the coast in Southern Oregon.
We are sending to two different Marine Units this year in Afghanistan, 48 Marines with Fox Company and 4 Marines at a forward operations area living in a tent with cots.
What we do know from letters and emails is that they really enjoy the large squirt guns, water balloons, battery operated water bottles with fans. The heat is upwards of 120 degrees. The Redshirts send special request items when possible. In this shipment we will be sending microfiber towels, flip flops, socks, flash lights, multi purpose tools, games balls (soccer, footballs, wiffle and tennis), frisbees, canned fruit, beef jerky, Clif Bars and hygiene items. just to name a few. We have a partnership with Clif Bars. They send us Clif Bars and we just pay for the postage. A really great thing they are doing for our troops. Clif Bars are a favorite item of our military.
The Brookings-Harbor Redshirts want to thank our troops for the sacrifice they make for our country and making a difference in the life of the Afghanistan people and the Global Community.
GlobalGiving has enabled us to send more package and for that we are very grateful. Our sincerest gratitude goes out to our GlobalGiving Partners for all their donations that help us to continue sending packages to our troops, "Until They All Come Home".
