Dear Supporter,
Thank you very much for your kind support and for believing in Chitral Women’s Sports Club mission to empower young Chitrali girls through sports.
In 2020, because of COVID, we could not carry out our activities the way we do every year.
The past year as you know has been stressful for everyone around the world. It has been even more stressful for the vulnerable community which also includes girls from underprivileged backgrounds. In Chitral, boys find ways to be part of outdoor activities but it was not the same for girls. Schools were closed which meant staying home and doing chores for girls.
On September 4, we organised a one-day cricket tournament for girls. The aim for the activity was to get girls back on the field and to have some happy time. We had 5 teams and played 8 matches.
We then went on to organise a football exchange program between 23rd to 29th January 2021. The activities included a football camp under the supervision of expert coaches that have experience in harnessing the talent in young girls during the week long activities to aid progressive training. 37 girls including 5 officials travelled from Chitral to Islamabad during the exchange program. We saw tremendous change within the girls by the end of the football exchange program.
For our next project, we want to focus on the local coaches. We want to organise training for coaches. We are negotiating with schools on putting emphasis on sports. Along with that, in 2021 we plan to organise a football, volleyball and a cricket camp along with tournaments.
Thank you for standing up with Chitral Women’s Sports Club in fighting for a more inclusive society.
