Giving Love and Belonging to Vulnerable Children and Young People at Christmas

By Johannes Shikuloh | Project Leader

Over the past three months, our project has continued to bring hope, love, and a sense of belonging to vulnerable children and young people in northern Namibia. Although this project was originally established to ensure that children experience the joy and warmth of Christmas, the overwhelming needs we continue to witness have encouraged us to expand our support beyond the festive season.
During this reporting period, ASPOVC continued identifying children and young people living in difficult circumstances, including orphans, vulnerable children, and youth from low-income households. Through the generosity of our supporters, we provided practical assistance, emotional support, and opportunities for children to participate in caring community activities where they felt valued, respected, and loved.
Our volunteers worked closely with families, community leaders, and schools to ensure that the most vulnerable beneficiaries received support and encouragement. We also strengthened relationships with caregivers, helping create a more caring and protective environment for children throughout the year.
Project Highlights
Reached vulnerable children and young people with ongoing care and support.
Strengthened children's sense of love, hope, and belonging through community engagement.
Increased collaboration with volunteers, caregivers, and community leaders.
Continued preparing for future Christmas celebrations while responding to urgent needs throughout the year.
Challenges
The number of children needing support continues to grow because of poverty, unemployment, and family hardship. Limited funding means that we cannot yet reach every child who needs assistance, especially with food, clothing, school supplies, and psychosocial support.
Looking Ahead
In the coming months, we will continue supporting vulnerable children throughout the year while preparing for our annual Christmas celebration, where every child can experience love, dignity, and the joy of being part of a caring community. We also aim to expand partnerships and attract new supporters so that more children can benefit from this project.
We sincerely thank every donor for making this work possible. Your generosity is helping vulnerable children discover that they are loved, valued, and never forgotten. Together, we are giving them hope not only at Christmas but throughout the year.
