The Special Children's Christmas Parties are the biggest events of their kind in Namibia for special needs children and their families. ASPOVC work closely with local charities, schools, community groups and government institutions throughout the Region to select these special children. The children invited, are children who may have one or more of the following: serious illnesses, physical impairment, intellectual impairment, domestic violence, or living in underprivileged circumstances.
For many people i our Region, Christmas is the most wonderful time of year. They revel in the warmth, decorations, gatherings, and traditions. But for vulnerable children, Christmas can be very hard. For many years, Christmas has been an incredibly difficult season for them. they have experienced abnormal life during he year, some lost their parents or have been abused. Some families struggled to care for themselves and children. Christmas was not something they did.
At this event, these children will treated to a day of celebrity stage shows, fun rides, interactive games, plenty of yummy food, face painting and many more fun activities. The highlight of the day is when the children enter Santa's Toy Room where they will be given 2-3 high quality toys to call their own.
The project, to make this Christmas memorable and impactful for vulnerable children is to put time and energy into being intentional. The project will help community recognize vulnerable children at Christmastime. Children will keep Christmas memories.
