Children's Day 2026: Living with Personality

PROJECT IMPLEMENTATION STATUS REPORT Children's Day 2026: "Living with Personality" Organized by: Rural Economic and Community Development Organization (RECDO), Sri Lanka Project Status: Not Implemented – Due to Insufficient Funding 1. Introduction The Rural Economic and Community Development Organization (RECDO) planned to organize the Children's Day 2026: "Living with Personality" Project to celebrate Universal Children's Day and promote children's personal development, positive values, leadership, and life skills. The proposed initiative aimed to provide hundreds of children, particularly those from vulnerable and economically disadvantaged families, with opportunities to develop their self-confidence, communication skills, creativity, leadership abilities, and emotional well-being. RECDO strongly believes that every child deserves equal opportunities to learn, grow, express themselves, and develop into a responsible and confident member of society. 2. Project Objectives The proposed project aimed to: Build self-confidence and positive self-esteem among children. Promote good values, respect, honesty, kindness, and empathy. Develop communication, teamwork, and leadership skills. Improve emotional well-being and resilience. Raise awareness of child rights and child protection. Encourage creativity, critical thinking, and positive behaviour. Promote friendship, inclusion, and mutual understanding among children. 3. Efforts Made by RECDO RECDO made efforts to mobilize resources and secure financial assistance to implement this meaningful children's development initiative. The organization prepared the project proposal and approached potential donors, development partners, and other interested organizations to seek financial support and collaboration. RECDO remained committed to implementing the programme and creating a valuable experience for children from vulnerable communities. However, despite these efforts, the organization was unable to secure sufficient financial contributions to cover the essential project expenses. 4. Reasons for Non-Implementation Unfortunately, the Children's Day 2026: "Living with Personality" Project could not be implemented as originally planned due to insufficient funding. Although RECDO made several efforts to identify potential funding sources and encourage donor contributions, the financial resources required to organize the programme were not secured. As a community-based organization with limited financial resources, RECDO was unable to independently cover the costs of the proposed activities, educational materials, children's refreshments, awards, event arrangements, and other essential requirements. Therefore, the organization had to make the difficult decision not to proceed with the programme. 5. Challenges and Organizational Experience The non-implementation of this project was a disappointing experience for RECDO, particularly because the initiative was designed to benefit children who have limited opportunities for personal development and extracurricular activities. This experience highlighted several challenges: Limited access to funding for community-based child development initiatives. Difficulties in securing financial contributions from donors. Increasing competition for available humanitarian and development funding. Limited organizational resources to independently implement large-scale children's programmes. Nevertheless, RECDO remains committed to its mission of supporting vulnerable children and promoting their rights, education, and overall development. 6. Conclusion and Future Commitment RECDO sincerely regrets that the Children's Day 2026: "Living with Personality" Project could not be conducted due to the lack of sufficient financial support. We are particularly saddened because we strongly believed that this programme would have created meaningful opportunities for hundreds of children to develop their personalities, discover their talents, build confidence, and enjoy a positive learning experience. Although the project could not be implemented this year, our commitment to children's development has not changed. RECDO remains hopeful that, with the support of generous donors, development partners, and well-wishers, we will be able to implement this initiative in the future and provide vulnerable children with the opportunities they deserve. We sincerely thank all individuals and organizations who showed interest in our initiative and encourage potential partners to join us in creating a better future for children. Every child deserves an opportunity to learn, grow, shine, and live with dignity. Yours faithfully, JM. Azhar Chairman Rural Economic and Community Development Organization (RECDO) Kantale, Trincomalee District, Sri Lanka. Contact: +94 77 707 3441 Email: recdosl@gmail.com Website: www.recdo.org
