Thank you once again to everyone who supported our project in 2012. All of the money raised through our Global Giving project was put directly into supporting the Purple Feet Foundation's thinc Program. Please take a look at our 2012 Donor Report.
This year you made it possible for students from Harrisburg (PA), Philadelphia (PA), and Prince George’s County (MD) to spend a life-changing week together at the thinc Program. Our third year of thinc was extra special for the students. We were able to bring another group of students from MD this year as well as add an extra day to the schedule. The extra day gave us the time we needed to offer new learning experiences for the students like Culinary Arts, Digital Photography and Hovercraft Construction.
The kids we identify for the thinc Program have a lot of challenges to overcome. The biggest challenge for many of them is ADD. Not attention deficit disorder; rather, adult deficit disorder. Almost all of the students we work with are being raised by a single parent who is trying his/her best to provide for them. The majority of students are also learning in schools where unlocking students’ individual passions, interests, and creative potential is unfortunately not the primary focus. As a result, the interactions with adults for these children are usually not the type that we are so fortunate to be able to provide through the thinc Program.
The funds from our 2012 Global Giving Project paid for nine of the students to attend the thinc Program last August.
We are officially closing this project and have opened a new one for 2013. We would greatly appreciate it if you would consider supporting us again.
Our new project on Global Giving to raise money for the 2013 thinc Program is project #12335.
Thank you!
