TOY LIBRARY PROJECTProgress Report and Funding Requirement

1. Introduction

The Rural Economic and Community Development Organization (RECDO) is currently operating a Toy Library for children from low-income and economically vulnerable families who are unable to afford toys and educational play materials at home.

The Toy Library provides children with an opportunity to visit a safe, friendly, and supportive environment where they can participate in meaningful play and activity-based learning.

2. Purpose of the Toy Library

The Toy Library aims to support children's development through play. Regular participation in play-based activities helps children improve their:

  • Knowledge and creativity
  • Cognitive abilities
  • Motor skills
  • Communication and social interaction
  • Teamwork and cooperation
  • Problem-solving abilities
  • Confidence and self-expression
  • Activity-based and practical learning skills

The Toy Library is particularly important for children from families with limited financial resources, as they often have very few opportunities to access quality toys and educational play materials.

3. Current Progress

The Toy Library has been providing children with opportunities to participate in structured and meaningful play activities. Children from low-income families regularly visit the facility and use the available toys and learning materials.

Through our activities, we have observed positive changes among many children who regularly participate. They have shown improvements in their confidence, social interaction, creativity, communication, and ability to participate in group activities.

The Toy Library therefore continues to serve as an important community-based facility supporting children's learning and development.

4. Current Challenge

Although the Toy Library continues to operate, the planned improvement and replacement of toys and play equipment have not yet been completed.

Many of the existing toys have been used for a long period and are now damaged, broken, or worn out. As a result, we do not have sufficient toys and educational materials to meet the needs of the children who visit the Toy Library.

The main reason for the delay is the lack of sufficient funding. RECDO currently does not have adequate financial resources to purchase new toys, educational games, and play equipment.

5. Fundraising Efforts

RECDO is currently making efforts to identify donors, partners, and well-wishers who may be able to support the Toy Library.

We are seeking financial and in-kind contributions to purchase new and appropriate toys, educational games, learning materials, and other child-friendly play equipment.

The project remains ongoing, and we will continue our fundraising efforts until sufficient resources are secured to replace the damaged toys and further improve the Toy Library.

6. Expected Benefits

With adequate funding, the Toy Library will be able to provide children with a wider range of safe and age-appropriate toys and learning materials.

This will enable more children to:

  • Learn through play and practical activities;
  • Develop creativity and imagination;
  • Improve their cognitive and motor skills;
  • Develop communication and social skills;
  • Learn teamwork and cooperation;
  • Improve problem-solving abilities;
  • Build confidence and positive relationships with other children; and
  • Enjoy a safe and supportive environment for recreation and learning.

7. Funding Requirement

RECDO is seeking support from donors, foundations, companies, organizations, and individuals to complete the improvement of the Toy Library.

Support is particularly required for:

  1. Replacement of damaged and broken toys;
  2. Purchase of educational and developmental toys;
  3. Indoor and outdoor play equipment;
  4. Learning and activity materials;
  5. Toys suitable for children with different abilities; and
  6. Maintenance and improvement of the Toy Library facility.

8. Conclusion

The Toy Library continues to provide an important service to children from low-income families in our community. Despite limited resources, RECDO has continued to maintain the programme and provide children with opportunities to learn, play, interact, and develop their skills.

However, the project has not yet been fully completed due to insufficient funding. Many existing toys have reached the end of their useful life, and additional resources are urgently needed to replace them.

RECDO is therefore continuing its fundraising efforts and welcomes the support of donors, organizations, companies, and well-wishers who share our commitment to children's development, education, and well-being.

With the necessary financial support, we hope to further strengthen the Toy Library and provide more children with access to safe, meaningful, and educational play opportunities.
