2014 marks our 35th Anniversary of rescuing America’s children (ages 11-17) from prostitution right here in the United States. Since 1979 we have rescued over 10,000 American children from sex trafficking/prostitution—that is more children than all of the other sex trafficking programs combined. In most years we spend 87% of our funds on the direct care and supervision of children and young people who have been victimized by prostitution.
Throughout the years, Children of the Night has gained the reputation as one of the most prominent and successful organizations in the nation addressing the needs of America's sex trafficked children.
In 2011, Dr. Lois Lee created WOW – Children of the Night With Out Walls – because she wanted to train others in her expertise of taking traditional social and educational services to the lowest person on the streets – people who have been forgotten.
Children of the Night's WOW program is a critical forward step to expand Children of the Night and permanently remove a greater number of people trapped on the streets through online education, mental health services and the critical help available from professional volunteers.
The Children of the Night experience must not be wasted or limited to one building or one location. We can take Children of the Night back to the streets where we started, and permanently remove many more people from life on the streets.
The Children of the Night WOW educational program provides free, comprehensive online GED services including GED test registration, payment of test fees, support documents required to test and transportation to GED test sites throughout America. Once the student is ready to test for the GED, we make it as easy as possible for students to walk into their local test center and take the test.
The WOW Mental Health Program is a NO COST program designed to assist the mentally ill who are trapped on the streets. WOW provides access to mental health services and benefits, a process otherwise too bureaucratic and demanding for someone who is psychotic or disabled and situated on the streets bouncing from shelter to jail to tent.
The WOW Professional Volunteers are placed with agencies or matched with individuals who require their services for health care, mental health services, legal aid and other support services not available through traditional funding sources.
Our 24/7 nationwide toll free hotline provides extensive ongoing case management for WOW clients including survival needs such as food, shelter and crisis intervention. These services are available 24/7 so people trapped on the streets may complete their online education and applications for mental health benefits. From start to finish, Children of the Night WOW is ready, willing and able to provide life changing services across the nation to anyone forced to live on the street.
