Shriners Hospitals for Children-Houston would like to provide the ultimate annual camp experience for up to 48 patients for Valentine's Day in 2016! Our staff and medical team are volunteering their Valentine's Day weekend to spend two days with our children at Houston's Camp For All. Camp For All is a unique, barrier-free camp that offers children, regardless of disability, the opportunity to participate in a true camp experience! Please help us provide an unforgettable weekend for our kids!
Shriners Hospitals for Children-Houston believes in healing the whole child. Many of our patients come to us as victims of traumatic events or genetic conditions. A patient's healing process can require many years of physical, emotional and psychological therapy from to provide them with the confidence to feel reintegrated back into our community. Shriners would like to provide these children with an entire weekend of unique physical and social activities without cost to the family.
Camp Love Without limits will provide a weekend experience without the everyday boundaries they might often encounter. Our children often face many restrictions at home or out in the community; We would like give our children the full camp experience without those boundaries. On Valentine's Day 2016, up to 48 our Houston patients, who are often wheelchair or walker bound, will know what it feels like to roast a s'more and sing campfire songs with his or her peers and personal physical therapist.
Due to our strong belief in healing the whole child, Shriners Hospitals for Children strives to provide extracurricular activities to help our children feel acclimated back into our community. Camp Love Without Limits will provide opportunities to develop their social skills and confidence. Children who have experienced traumatic injuries or events need as many therapeutic and rehabilitative opportunities to help them to lead happy, healthy, and productive lives within their community.
