This project will improve nutrition, health, and early childhood development for 1,000 children under six and 130 pregnant women in rural Honduras. Families will receive prenatal education, nutritional monitoring, early stimulation activities, and support for healthy feeding practices. The project will also train 110 community volunteers to strengthen local services and help reduce child malnutrition while giving children a healthier start in life and stronger opportunities to succeed.
In rural southern Honduras, many children under six suffer from chronic malnutrition, limited early learning opportunities, and poor access to health services. Pregnant women often lack prenatal care and nutrition education, increasing health risks for mothers and babies. Poverty and weak community health systems leave families without the support needed to help children grow, learn, and succeed during the most critical years of development.
This project will provide prenatal education, nutrition monitoring, early stimulation activities, and healthy feeding support to more than 1,000 children and 100 pregnant women in rural Honduras. Community health committees will also be trained to improve local health services and identify children at risk of malnutrition. These activities will help children grow healthier, strengthen early learning, and improve long-term opportunities for families.
This project will help 1,000 children build healthier and more successful futures by reducing malnutrition and improving early childhood development in rural Honduras. Pregnant women and families will gain lasting knowledge about nutrition, health, and child care, while trained community health committees will continue supporting children after the project ends. Stronger early development will improve children's learning, health, and future opportunities.
