Project Report | Mar 5, 2025
Quarterly Report: March 2025

By Sanne Sevig | Founder

Dear Supporters,

The past months have been filled with both incredible progress and new challenges at Kids Club. With over 1,100 children enrolled, we continue to provide a safe space for learning, creativity, and community-building. However, as we celebrate growth, we are also facing an urgent transition—our current venue will no longer be available after March, and we are launching a fundraising effort to secure and build a new space for the children.

A New Home for Kids Club

Securing a stable space for Kids Club has been a longtime goal, and we are excited to share that we have found a central location where we can stay for a minimum of five years. This will give us the security we need to continue our programs without fear of relocation. Our plan is to build the new Kids Club in stages, starting with land clearing, ground leveling, and applying for electricity. From there, we will construct an elevated kubo (bamboo hut) for activities, followed by storage space and eventually a toilet and enclosed classroom for children with special needs.

This is a massive step forward, and with your help, we can make it a reality!

Empowering Children with Learning and Life Skills

Kids Club remains a space where children not only receive educational support but also develop essential life skills. Due to growing demand from parents, our team member Beng—who originally worked in our café—has expanded her role to lead special classes for children. Many kids requested her specifically, highlighting the importance of trust and connection between mentors and students. Seeing a leader evolve into such a key figure for the children is a beautiful reminder of the impact of consistency and care.

Our after-school activities have also continued to grow, offering workshops in cooking, music, arts, and environmental education. Children participate in interactive learning experiences that foster independence, creativity, and teamwork.

Expanding Environmental Education

A core part of Kids Club’s mission is instilling environmental awareness in children. This quarter, we have focused on hands-on learning through:

Beach Clean-Ups – Children actively helped clean their local environment, learning the importance of waste management and teamwork.

Trash-to-Art Projects – Using materials collected during clean-ups, the kids created beautiful, meaningful artwork.

Recycling Art Studio Visits – Some of our students visited the Recycling Art Studio, seeing firsthand how waste can be repurposed into useful and creative products.

These activities help children understand sustainability in a practical and engaging way, ensuring they become responsible stewards of their environment.

Welcoming New Volunteers & Expanding Our Reach

We were fortunate to host several volunteers specializing in learning and child development this quarter. Their expertise allowed us to involve more children, particularly those with special needs, in our daily programs. The growing interest from families looking for alternative education options shows that Kids Club is filling a vital gap in the community.

Looking Ahead

With our current venue closing by the end of March, we are shifting our focus to fundraising for the new Kids Club space. This is a crucial moment for us, and we need all the support we can get to ensure a smooth transition. Every contribution, big or small, will help us create a lasting home for the children of Siargao.

Thank you for being part of our journey. Together, we are creating a brighter future for these children.

With gratitude,

Sanne Sevig
